Title: Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Specialist
Aramco energizes the world economy.
Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world's largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.
With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco’s value to society.
Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations’ spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom’s vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.
We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.
Overview
We are seeking a specialist with a noticeable experience in carbon fiber reinforced plastic processing to join the Non-metallic Applications Development division of The Research & Development Center (R&DC)
The Non-metallic Applications Development division is responsible for conducting cutting-edge research activities to disrupt the Non-metallic businesses and enable further adoption of polymeric materials at a global level. The division is aiming at the development of innovative composites-based technologies able to create an additional demand on polymers in 5 main sectors (Oil & Gas, Building & Construction, Automotive, Renewables and Packaging)
The candidate’s primary role is to develop and implement new research programs focusing on cost effective carbon fiber-based composites for multiple applications in the Energy sectors covering Wind Turbines and Hydrogen transportation/storage. The candidate’s role also includes establishing partnerships with national/international organizations to advance the technology development and ensure effective commercialization of the developed technologies.
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will be required to work closely with internal teams as well as research organizations and manufacturers to identify technical gaps/challenges that hinder a vast penetration of carbon fiber reinforced plastic in the targeted applications and accordingly establish and derive collaborative projects. This will include, but not limited to, conducting technical feasibility studies, designing R&D strategies, launching research projects, leading lab technician(s) and junior scientists and engaging with external partners to advance the technology readiness level of the targeted development. As a CFRP specialist, the candidate will be also responsible for project planning, execution, implementation and data analysis as well as liaising with stakeholders to ensure seamless integration with the ongoing effort associated with the Non-metallic initiatives in the company.
Moreover, the candidate is expected to train young scientists/engineers, while keeping abreast with the engineering and scientific developments of conventional/advanced manufacturing processes of composites.
Minimum Requirements
The candidate needs to hold a PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or Polymer processing.
The candidate should have ten years of R&D experience in composite development including at least five years in the field of CFRP processing.
As a successful candidate, the below requirements should be met:
Ability to set corporate R&D strategies, develop technology roadmaps, connecting innovation ecosystem players and establish new business partnerships
Have the ability to identify competencies gaps and build/manage/lead R&D teams
Have experience in complex projects management including milestones tracking, project finance & contracts development, technology licensing and commercialization
Demonstrate effective leadership skills to influence and build relationships with customers
Able to establish new research programs to overcome the existing challenges of composites processing, (e.g. scrap rate, time cycle, and repair of common and arising manufacturing processes)
Able to work closely with partners to integrate the developed technologies in real-world applications in collaboration with OEMs
Must have the ability to publish papers in highly recognized journals, present research outcomes in international events and grant patents based on novel research results
