Title: Carbonate Sedimentologist
Aramco energizes the world economy.
Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world's largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.
With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco’s value to society.
Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations’ spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom’s vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.
We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.
Overview
We are seeking a Carbonate Sedimentologist to join the Sedimentology and Petrography Team of the Geological Solutions Division.
The Sedimentology and Petrography Team is responsible for providing responses to both short-term drilling operations and long-term projects that require high technical standards in sedimentology, stratigraphy, diagenesis across the Exploration, Development, and Sustainability Areas of the company.
The primary role of the Carbonate Sedimentologist is to carry out sedimentological and stratigraphic analysis for drilling operations and projects with minimal supervision but also to oversee the technical development of younger professionals.
Key Responsibilities
As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Follow-up drilling operations that require any sedimentology, stratigraphy and/or diagenesis support, guidance, and advise.
- Carry out descriptions and sampling of cores, interpret and integrate results, and provide fast and accurate responses to drilling operations.
- Prepare 2D and 3D sedimentological, stratigraphic, and diagenetic predictive models, to include presentations and reports, that are intended to derisk projects in the Exploration, Development and sustainability areas of the company.
- Actively supervise younger professionals through drilling operations and projects as well as using formal training sessions in sedimentology and stratigraphy.
Minimum Requirements
As a successful candidate you will hold a:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from an accredited university. An advanced degree in sedimentology, stratigraphy or diagenesis is a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in activities related to sedimentology, stratigraphy and to have extensively worked on core descriptions, facies analysis, and the creation of depositional models that are integrated with diagenesis and biostratigraphy.
- Ability to carry out core descriptions and sampling for different lithological, mineralogical, geochemical, and biostratigraphic purposes.
- Ability to integrate all the available sedimentological, diagenetic, biostratigraphic, petrophysical, and well log results for drilling operations and projects.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in the creation of multi-well litho- and chronostratigraphic correlations and, importantly, in the interpretation of different depositional environments (i.e., fresh water to marine) and the production of 2D and 3D predictive depositional models that include reservoir, seal, and source rock.
