Overview

We are seeking a Corrosion Engineer to join the Sea Water Engineering Division (SWED) of Sea Water Injection Department (SWID).

SWID operates and maintains the largest sea water treatment plant in the world for downhole water injection and a very large network of distribution facilities/piping network in Southern Area Oil Operations (SAOO). The department is responsible for treating, transporting and

injecting the sea water to maintain the oil reservoir pressure in the giant Ghawar oil field and Khurais oil field. Sea Water Engineering Division (SWED) provides the technical engineering support to the department. There are numerous corrosion challenges and a corrosion engineer is required to address the corrosion issues.

You will be expected to be able to perform the following:

Designs and implements biocide and other chemical treatment programs.

Prepares programs/forecast for laboratory monitoring of various parameters in the injection water for monitoring/controlling corrosion.

Works on pipeline integrity management programs that include pipeline cleaning, coating, corrosion monitoring through weight loss coupons and other techniques.

Expands the use of non-metallic in the seawater system.

Conducts studies on issues related to corrosion control, equipment/piping failures investigation, etc.

Reviews the inspection data and makes corrosion control recommendations accordingly.

Studies piping loops and assigns/reviews Condition Monitoring Locations (CMLs).

Directs/assists inspection personnel to have a robust inspection program.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:

 Provides, as assigned, work direction to a team of Corrosion Control Engineers and Technicians working on a specific corrosion control project or assigned to a specific geographical or operational area. Reviews work of subordinates to ensure conformance to Departmental standards.

Provides expert advice and assistance to design, construction, operations and maintenance personnel on matters pertaining to a corrosion control area.

Initiates and/or performs special studies in corrosion control. Evaluates data as to scope, impact and long-range cost effectiveness on existing and planned facilities, and coordinates the preparation of reports.

Provides evaluation data on capabilities of corrosion control vendors and contractors.

 Reviews operations and monitoring activities associated with corrosion control facilities to identify needed system modifications or procedural changes.

Keeps current with significant developments in corrosion control, with emphasis on incumbent's area of speciality, through technical literature, participation in professional and industry society meetings, etc.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a physical science.

Nine (9) year’s corrosion control experience in the petroleum or petrochemical industry.

Excellent command of oral and written English.

Must have a valid SAG driver’s license.
