Job Description

We are seeking a Data Architect Specialist to join Corporate Data Governance Office Division of Digital Transformation Admin Area. The primary role is to design and implement of corporate-wide data governance activities. The position will focus on setting the data architecture including:

  • Data modeling
  • Data persistence
  • Messaging structures
  • Ensuring the strategy supports the current and future digital business needs.

The Corporate Data Governance Office Division is responsible for planning and execute a world-class Corporate-wide data governance and strategy to ensure all information assets are proactively and efficiently managed throughout Saudi Aramco to foster innovation, to amplify the value and quality of corporate data and to warrant compliance with national and international regulations.

The Data Architect specialist will work closely with relevant organizations to ensure escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues.  He/she will also work closely with business and operational areas to improve the quality and value of core data assets, and respond to regulatory data governance requirements.


Duties & Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:

  • Develop and evolve the corporate wide data strategy to support delivery of digital business objectives.
  • Establish data standards in terms of nomenclature, persistence technology selection, design and deployments.
  • Ensure that the data architecture strategy and roadmap is aligned to the digital business and technology strategies.
  • Build and maintain appropriate enterprise architecture artefacts including; entity relationship models, data dictionary, taxonomy to aid data traceability.
  • Leader for data modeling processes and techniques, and data persistence and access architectures for digital business applications, driving the evolution of the infrastructure at the corporate digital business levels.
  • Be an advocate of data security principles and ensure appropriate security practices are embedded in any data strategy.
  • Provide technical oversight to solution delivery in creating business driven solutions adhering to the enterprise architecture and data governance standards.
  • Build a framework of principles to ensure data integrity across the business (including but not limited to ERP, CRM, BI, Data warehouse, external interfaces).
  • Develop key performance measures for data integration and quality.
  • Support third party data suppliers in developing specifications that are congruent with the corporate data architecture.
  • Develop, mentor, train, and support the team of data governance and data architecture on the implementation of efficient data persistence and access within digital needs applications.
  • Be an advisor in all new strategic data initiatives and ensure alignment to the corporate wide data strategy.
  • Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information.
  • Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate you must hold the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management of Information System, or Information Management from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Have knowledge and experience in architecting and implementing Business Intelligence and Data warehouse platforms, Master data Management, data integration and OLTP database solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of industry best practices around data architecture in both clouds based and on prem solutions.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills are essential, enabling easy interpretation and analysis of large volumes of data.
  • Excellent problem solving and data modelling skills (logical, physical, sematic and integration models) including; normalization, OLAP / OLTP principles and entity relationship analysis
  • Comprehensive understanding of the principles of and best practices behind data engineering, and the supporting technologies such as RDBMS, NoSQL, SQL, Oracle, Cache & In-memory stores.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data warehousing and data transformation (extract, transform and load) processes and the supporting technologies such as Amazon Glue, EMR, Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, other analytics products.
  • Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of horizontal data lineage from source to output.
  • In-depth understanding of database architecture.
  • Knowledge of data mining and segmentaiton techniques.
  • Have ten (10) years of experience in a major organization, with large-scale data management and oversight experience, including at least five (5) years in a senior management role, or transformation leadership experience.
