Overview

Saudi Aramco Global Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Corrosion Engineer to join our Global Manufacturing Excellence organization under the Downstream Assets Technical Solutions Department (ATSD).

ATSD is a multi-disciplinary organization that offers top-notch technical support to Saudi Aramco’s and affiliates’ refineries, NGL fractionation, and petrochemical plants inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and across the globe.

The primary role of the Corrosion Engineer is to provide technical support to operating facilities, projects, and the deployment of new technologies related to the field. The successful candidate will conduct special studies and analysis in a specialized corrosion control field, such as cathodic protection, water treatment, chemical inhibition or materials selection. They will work jointly with subject matter experts and multidisciplinary teams. In addition, they are expected to coach and support the training and development of junior Corrosion Engineers within the team. 

Key Responsibilities

•    Perform periodical analytical study of corrosion assessment findings to overcome challenging inspection programs
•    Deploy Technologies related to corrosion issues.
•    Supports failure investigations and deploy lesson learned from RCA to avoid reoccurrence.
•    Provide expert advice and assistance to design, construction, operations and maintenance on matters pertaining to a corrosion control area.
•    Perform special studies in corrosion control. Evaluates data as to scope, impact and long-range cost effectiveness on existing and new projects
•    Review operations and monitoring activities to identify needed system modifications or procedural changes associated with corrosion control.
•    Conduct corrosion mitigation and integrity review to optimize the inspection and corrosion programs and maintain assets integrity
•    Keeps current with significant developments in corrosion control, with emphasis on incumbent's area of specialty, through technical literature, participation in professional and industry society meetings, etc.
•    Review design packages and validate materials selection based on current code and standards.
•    Will work as a subject matter expert in designing, selecting material grades and identifying & analyzing material failure mechanism and provide engineered solutions correlating with process parameters & equipment specification within operating facilities.
•    Support implementation of corrosion management program and on-stream monitoring 
•    Support risk-based inspection (RBI) based on API-580 methodology.
•    Review and approve recommended solutions for coating failures and cathodic protection.
•    Support HAZOP review sessions and ensure that all issues are addressed.
•    Reviews water treatment programs and recommend solutions to overcome challenges.
•    Supports validation of corrosion controls, corrosion loops and corrosion damage mechanisms.
•    Assess feed composition changes and approve recommend solution to assure assets integrity.
•    Develop scope and description of technology items, and supports field implementation.
•    Develop and transfer knowledge about use of coating, CP, corrosion inhibitors and other corrosion controls and best practices.

Minimum Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in mechanical engineer. An advanced degree is a plus. 
•    15 years minimum experience (20+ preferable) in Oil/Gas industry, material science, metallurgy, and engineering aspect of welding is required. 
•    Knowledge of the international standards and codes NACE, ASME, API and ASTM especially inspection and corrosion related standards such as API-571, API-580, API-570 and API-510 is required.
•    Should hold a valid NACE Specialist Certification or NACE Senior Corrosion Technologist or combination of NACE Corrosion Technologist, API-571 and NACE CP level II.
•    Fluent in English, oral and written.
