Overview
We are seeking a Downstream Sustainability Specialist to join our Downstream Sustainability Unit (SBU) which is part of the Downstream Finance Admin Area
The Down Stream Sustainability Unit Formulates & coordinates downstream sustainability strategy both internally, within the SBU and all Downstream Admin areas as well as with within the whole Company. SBU provides input for corporate sustainability report, maintains contacts with internal and external bodies and stakeholders to progress Saudi Aramco’s sustainability / carbon transparency objectives. It is also responsible for running the Downstream Product Carbon Footprint program and support initial market outreach and commercialization of lower carbon products
Your primary role is to supports the development and implementation of sustainability and carbon transparency initiatives across downstream operations. The role focuses on product-level carbon certifications, regulatory monitoring and accounting, while supporting commercial teams and leadership with analysis, insights, and external engagements.

Duties and Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Monitor global and regional downstream sustainability and lower carbon regulations (fuels, chemicals, carbon pricing, CBAM, CPRD, CSDDD, etc.).
- Assess regulatory impacts on downstream operations, economics, and strategy.
- Support development of sustainability narratives, presentations, and briefings for leadership and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain scenario analyses related to regulations, carbon pricing, and market developments.
- Support engagement with regulators, industry bodies, and external stakeholders as required.
- Coordinate sustainability-related compliance activities with legal, commercial, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain product-level Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for downstream products (fuels, chemicals, feedstock).
- Establish and maintain carbon accounting methodologies aligned with ISO standards, GHG Protocol, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage sustainability certifications and schemes (e.g., ISCC, RSB, book-and-claim mechanisms).
- Maintain datasets, assumptions, and documentation to ensure audit readiness and third-party assurance.
- Interface with certification bodies, auditors, and assurance providers.
- Support commercial teams on customer sustainability requirements and sustainability-related product offerings.
- Assist in the development of sustainability-driven value propositions.
- Support planning and execution of the downstream carbon transparency program, including milestones, risks, and reporting.
- Develop dashboards and reports for management and leadership review.
Minimum Requirements
As the successful candidate you will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy, or a related discipline from a recognized and approved program. Post-graduation degree preferred.
- A minimum of (15) experience in experience in oil & gas industry; with 5 years in sustainability, carbon management, regulatory compliance, or related roles.
- Exposure to downstream fuels, chemicals, or refining value chains preferred.
- Exposure to carbon accounting, LCAs, or sustainability certifications is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical, commercial, and legal teams.
- Clear communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ideally, international and multi-cultural working exposure.
