Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Riyadh Refinery Department within the Engineering Divisions Technical Support Unit (TSU).
TSU has two disciplines to support the refinery operations, electrical and mechanical stationary equipment. Its function caters mainly to offer all technical support to the refinery operation, maintenance and engineering teams.
Your primary role will be to handle all electrical engineering aspects. This includes the development of plans and processes to ensure our facilities electrical equipment and systems throughout its lifecycle to reduce safety, environmental and economic risk, whilst maintaining compliance with all applicable codes and standards. You will also be responsible for providing technical support on high priority electrical issues.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Provide technical assistance on key electrical systems within the refinery, which include but not limited to cogeneration facilities, substations, switchgear, motor control centers (MCC), switches, panels, motors, cables, and cable trays.
- Engage in thorough investigations into electrical equipment failures, analyzing incident reports, and developing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Assist in the development and justification of new projects and upgrade initiatives by offering valuable insights based on technical expertise.
- Recommend proactive measures such as routine inspections or scheduled maintenance schedules aimed at enhancing overall efficiency and performance of electrical systems.
- To guarantee adherence to stringent health and safety regulations, especially those related to arc flash risks, it is imperative that all electrical systems and associated processes conform strictly to applicable standards. As part of this responsibility, you must collaborate closely with other team members from the Electric Shop and Electric Switching Operations department to monitor and preserve electrical infrastructure integrity while sharing information about specific components like drawings, specifications, and operating guidelines.
- Effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders both internally – consulting services, power operations, engineering divisions – and externally through partnerships with global manufacturing excellence programs to enable seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies aligned with corporate objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- You must hold a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering (Power).
- You should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in refining/petrochemical industries.
- Extensive experience in electrical engineering, maintenance and troubleshooting practices for industrial electrical systems is essential.
- You should be able to demonstrate a profound comprehension of refinery electrical systems coupled with extensive experience working with intricate electrical networks.
- You should have previous experience with specification, application and maintenance up to 15 kV class electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of power generation (cogeneration), power distribution and power automation are preferred.
- Experience performing electrical power system studies utilizing ETAP modeling is preferred.
