Job Overview
We are seeking an Environmental Engineer/Scientist to join the Air Quality & Meteorology Division of Environmental Protection Department (EPD). The Air Quality & Meteorology Division is responsible for providing Air Quality, Modeling and Meteorological consultations to the operating facilities and assess their compliance with the applicable internal and national air quality requirements.
The Air Quality Engineer/Scientist primary role is to assess operating facilities reach the highest level of compliance and provide technically sound perspectives on air quality and modeling or meteorology aspects.
Duties & Responsibilities
You will be required to perform the following:
• Provide high level consultations to support Company strategies and policies in air quality and modeling related aspects.
• Oversee the development and implementation of the Corporate and National standards and procedures, and lead new technologies or research initiatives in the field of air quality and modeling reduction and challenges related to the same field.
• Support the professional development of young Saudi engineers in areas related to environmental assessment, management, and technologies.
• Establish business goals and air emissions reduction opportunities,
• Conduct research and interpreting on air quality legislation and policy,
• Evaluate air emissions pathways,
• Assess ambient air quality impacts,
• Interpret International and National Ambient Air Quality Standards and Emissions Standards,
• Perform research tasks of significant technical complexity, as well as developing and implementing innovative and creative technical solutions.
• Interact with government and international entities pertaining to air quality compliance and reporting mechanisms.
• Support facility operations.
• Assess new environmental technologies for Saudi Aramco applications,
• Update Saudi Aramco engineering standards and procedures, lead environmental audits,
• Review project designs and environmental impact assessments,
• Review of environmental permits, and assuring Saudi Aramco compliance with the governmental agencies’ environmental regulations.
Minimum Requirements
• As a successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering/Science from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree is preferred.
• You will have more than 10 years of experience in environmental field, including at least 5 in Air Quality, Modeling or Meteorology.
The following items demonstrate additional requirements for this job:
• Participation in International or National committees related to air quality and relevant publications.
• Knowledge and expertise of:
1. International air quality requirements (e.g. USEPA, EU, IFC)
2. Best Practices in emissions inventory development
3. Air dispersion Modeling using accepted models (e.g. AERMOD, CALPUFF)
• Proven experience in establishing and managing air emissions management programs at a corporate level, and support reporting requirements related to air quality/emissions for Corporate Sustainability reports.
• Excellent English communication skills to produce technically-sound reports and presentations.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia is highly desirable.
• Fundamentals of Engineering, Professional Engineering, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
