Overview

We are seeking a Field Development Geologist to join the Manifa/AFK & Satellite Fields Division.

The Manifa/AFK & Satellite Fields Division is responsible for providing characterization and assessment of oil resources of developed fields at the highest definition required through building and maintaining always-ready integrated earth models to assess and update all in-place oil resources, support the optimization of oil field development and ensure excellence in well placement.

Your primary role is to utilize all available Geological, Geophysical, Petrophysical, and other dynamic information to identify optimum subsurface target/s for all type of wells such as vertical, S-shape, J-shape, Single lateral and multi-lateral wells in order to place wells in the targeted reservoirs for maximum reservoir contact.

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Perform and conduct reservoir characterization studies, including Log-to-core integration, mapping, sequence stratigraphy and 3D geological modeling (Facies distribution, structural updates and reservoir properties).
  • Contribute to field development plans through well planning using simulation ready 3D integrated model.
  • Perform well planning, including creating well targets data with reservoir and drilling engineers, generate well trajectories and loading the directional data, and prepare geological prognosis (including but not limited to tops, cross sections and correlation panels)
  • Monitor operational and geo-steering activities for all types of wells (horizontal, deviated, and vertical) in the office or offsite if needed, perform well evaluations while and post drilling, making well correlations, generating and/or updating maps for structural, stratigraphic and fluid limits in light of the
  • new drilling information, and making critical decisions for wellbore adjustments.
  • Interact with concerned geoscientists in the Reservoir Characterization Department, Reservoir Engineers, Drilling & Workover Engineers, and other stakeholders to communicate clearly issues in drilling activities, and prepare post-drilling analysis.
  • Integrate all seismic, core, facies, structure and petrophysical data into a 3D geological model for updates after drilling activities and for updating volumetric calculations.
  • Integrate all available Geological, Geophysical, Petrophysical, Sedimentological, and 3D Geological model and other dynamic information for advance reservoir characterization studies to in-depth understanding for reservoir architecture and flow behavior.
  • Integrate all characterization studies to identify suitable locations for well placement.
  • Update 3D geological models both structurally and petrophysical properties.

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate you will hold a:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geoscience from an accredited university. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • You will have a minimum of 15 years of experience in Field development activities or role of development geologist including: experience in reservoir geology, drilling operations, field development, sedimentology/stratigraphy or structural geology, and subsurface mapping.
  • You will also have a Minimum of 2 years of experience in geo-steering (with triple combo log) and real-time operations alongside LWD and/or wireline borehole image interpretation is a plus.
  • You will be Familiar with various geological applications and packages (such as DSG, Petrel, Petrosys, Geolog, Teclog etc.)
  • You will demonstrate knowledge of LWD and wireline logging technologies and applications is a plus.
