Overview
We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Fire Operations Technical Support Group.
Fire Operations Technical Support Group is responsible for providing engineering and technical support to fire operations to protect Saudi Aramco’s critical infrastructure by delivering cutting-edge fire prevention strategies, emergency response protocols, and deploy large scale suppression systems tailored to high-risk industrial environments.
Your primary role is to provide specialized technical support for industrial fire operations, focusing on tank firefighting operations, HazMat and foam-based suppression systems/material. Your expertise will ensure deployment of effective equipment and resources in response to complex fire scenarios while minimizing operational downtime and environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Provide technical expertise in industrial fire operations, emphasizing tank firefighting, HazMat response, and foam-based suppression methods.
- Assess fire risks in high-hazard facilities (e.g., refineries, tank farms, processing units) and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Conduct acceptance testing of foam resources and systems to ensure compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design fire safety protocols aligned with evolving international standards.
- Demonstrate leadership by training personnel on advanced firefighting techniques, equipment utilization, and incident command systems.
- Develop tactical response plans for complex scenarios, such as tank fires, flammable liquid spills, and multi-agency coordination.
- Evaluate operational readiness of firefighting units to ensure alignment with NFPA and global best practices.
- Conduct regular visits to Aramco’s 50+ fire stations and facilities to evaluate operational capabilities, ensure compliance with safety standards, and identify opportunities for technical improvements.
- Mentor and develop young professionals through structured knowledge-sharing initiatives, technical workshops, and on-the-job training programs.
Minimum Requirements
- As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering, Fire & Explosion Engineering, Fire Science, Emergency Management, or a related field from a recognized program.
- You will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in fire safety field, including at least 3 years focused on industrial, HazMat or Municipal Fire operations.
- Alternatively, you will hold Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from a recognized program with 15+ years of experience in fire safety field, including at least 3 years focused on industrial, HazMat or Municipal Fire operations.
- A you will be able to demonstrate skills in mastery of incident command systems (ICS), hazardous materials response protocols, and fire dynamics in high-risk environments.
- Certifications such as Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection are preferred. Proficiency and deep understanding of NFPA/EN standards and hazardous material handling are essential.
