Overview
We are seeking a Human Factors Engineer to join the Loss Prevention Organization (LP).
LP is responsible for providing both day-to-day in-field occupational and process safety support to Saudi Aramco operations, as well as centralized technical support and consulting function. Our field offices are located in Abqaiq, Riyadh, Ras Tanura, Dhahran, Udhailiyah, Jeddah (including Yanbu and Jazan), and Tanajib. Through these offices, LP provides its services to all Saudi Aramco facilities and departments that are located throughout the Kingdom.
Your primary role is to embed principles of human and organizational factors in operational process and capital projects, promote a sound safety culture, build human factors capability in the company and share human factors knowledge as well as engage with the industry.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Develop corporate policies, guidelines, standards and specifications for human factors.
- Develop tools to incorporate human factors in qualitative and quantitative risk assessments (e.g., human failure analysis, safety critical task analysis, human reliability analysis) as well as support risk assessment activities that involve these tools.
- Introduce human performance tools to error-proof routine and non-routine field activities, including embedding human factors thinking into the day-to-day activities (e.g., site inspections, work permitting, pre and post job briefings, JSA).
- Participate, review and analyze human factors issues in incident investigations.
- Advise on Human Factors Engineering (HFE) integration in capital projects, verifying compliance with international and company HFE standards as well as Human-Machine Interface (HMI) specifications.
- Streamline critical communications for frontline workers, advising on shift turnover practices, communication interfaces between work group and between organizations.
- Advise facilities on how to manage fatigue risk and best practices in shift work schedule design, including safe manning levels, optimal workload and allocation of functions.
- Develop programs and strategies for driving and sustaining a positive safety culture, operationalizing proven methods to assess safety culture, and driving targeted interventions.
- Develop methods to measure psychological safety and action plans to address areas for improvement.
- Identify and lead the deployment of innovative technologies to reduce human failure.
- Provide awareness as well as technical training for different human factors topics.
- Mentor other LP personnel.
Minimum Requirements
- You will hold a Bachelor degree in Engineering, industrial psychology, human factors, ergonomics, or safety from an Accredited Institution
- You will have 7 years of experience as a human factor professional in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, or related industries, including as strong track record in delivering results.
- You will hold a recognized certification in human factors such as Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP), Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE), Chartered Ergonomics and Human Factors Specialist (C.ErgHF), or European Ergonomist (Eur.Erg).
- You will have an excellent ability to communicate in English with peers as well as members of management, and be able to produce clear and concise oral and written reports in English.
