Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified IP Docketing Specialist (Analyst) to join our Intellectual Property Law Department. (IPLD)
IPLD are responsible for Company-wide legal support for all IP-related matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, IP-related agreements, as well as IP education and counseling.
The Docketing Specialist’s primary role is to maintain and manage the company’s intellectual property docketing system, ensuring accurate records management, including tracking of domestic and international patent and trademark matters.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Manage the company’s intellectual property docketing system for patents, trademarks and related matters.
- Create, manage, and maintain foreign and domestic intellectual property matters.
- Assist with portfolio data management, including matter creation, transfers and closures.
- Monitor communications from outside counsel law firms and docket deadlines and tasks for in-house attorneys and paralegals.
- Perform quality control audits of docket entries to ensure accuracy, completeness, and data integrity.
- Generate regular reports for attorneys and management regarding portfolio status, upcoming deadlines, workload metrics and compliance tracking.
- Learn and understand the company’s IP docketing processes, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, and implement best practices to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the docketing process.
Minimum Requirements
As the successful candidate you will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate.
- Minimum 5 years professional and relevant patent docketing experience, gained in a major international law firm or major corporate legal department.
- Experience with patent and trademark prosecution, and foreign patent and trademark databases and websites.
- Strong writing skills in English, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize workload.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Excel.
- Thorough knowledge of IP docketing software (Unycom is a plus).
- Proficiency in communicating in English, both written and spoken.
