Overview

We are seeking an Instrument Engineer to join our Process Control and Instrumentation Unit (PC&IU) within Yanbu Refinery Engineering Division.

 

Yanbu Refinery is a 250 MBD capacity refinery located in the west cost of Saudi Arabia and responsible for meeting the demand of refined products like Gasoline, Diesel, and Jet Fuel in the western region of Saudi Arabia.

 

Your primary role is to provide instrumentation engineering expertise including designing, developing, installing, managing, troubleshooting and maintaining instrumentation systems, across multiple units within Yanbu Refinery.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

 

  • Provide technical support for material and design for all types of instrumentation, level, flow, temperature, pressure, control valves, Emergency Isolation Valves, Motor Operated Valve and Relief Valves utilizing Aramco and applicable international standards.
  • Apply basic operating knowledge of DCS, ESD, PLC Vibration Monitoring Systems (VMS), Compressor Control Systems (CCS) for the troubleshooting of instrumentation and control complications by utilizing trends, loop drawings and I/O cross reference.
  • Apply basic knowledge of H2S, LEL, pH, conductivity, O2 analyzer, CO/CO2 analyzer, fire & gas detectors and gas chromatographs.
  • Work with Process P&IDs, loop drawings and Operation, Engineering and Maintenance manuals.
  • Plant problem troubleshooting, plant optimization, resolving instrumentation and operational issues and improving performance by applying experience and lessons learned.
  • Lead and/or participate in investigation of incidents applying 5Why’s technique and/or Tap Root. Produce investigation reports and coordinate investigation related activities with other disciplines.
  • Participate in plant HAZOP and Safety Integrated Limit (SIL) assessment studies and implementation. 
  • Participate in Bad Actor Program and identify critical risky instrumentation.
  • Work with smart diagnostic tools like Asset Management System, Smart Positioner software, Guided wave Radar Transmitter tools of various manufacturers and other tools.

Minimum Requirements

  • As the successful candidate you must hold a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, instrumentation and Control Engineering or equivalent.

 

  • You should have at least 12 years of experience as an Instrument Engineering providing technical support and design within the Oil and gas industry.

 

  • Instrument related certifications, such as Functional Safety Engineer (TUV) or ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP) are a plus.

 

  • You should be able to demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in the field of instrumentation and metering systems.

 

  • You should have experience in designing Instrumentation systems.

 

  • You should be able to demonstrate Technical Support Experience and troubleshooting as an Instrument Engineer.

 

  • You should also have proficiency in the codes and standards within the oil and gas industry, i.e., API, BS, ISO, ASME, ANSI, IEC, ISA, IEEE, etc.

 

  • You should have Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft based software (Word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
