Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Downstream Finance, Planning & Performance Management Analyst with a strong commercial and business-oriented mindset to support the delivery of financial and operational results across the Downstream portfolio.    This position will be working within the Downstream Finance, Planning & Performance Department which is part of Downstream Finance.

Downstream Finance, Planning & Performance Management Department (DS P&PMD) is responsible for Downstream planning, performance reporting and business accountability, turning financial, operational and market intelligence data into action-oriented insights. Partners closely with the business to influence decisions, identify performance opportunities, and drive timely corrective actions while continuously improving planning and report processes.

Your primary role is to partner closely with business, commercial, and finance stakeholders to translate performance into clear actions, challenge the status quo, and continuously improve processes and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

Business Planning, Forecasting & Performance Delivery - Develops and executes business plans, forecasts, and performance reviews for downstream portfolios, driving financial discipline, timely corrective actions, and strategic decision-making through insightful analysis and forward-looking risk/opportunity management.

Commercial & Business Partnership - Acts as a trusted financial partner to commercial and business teams, connecting financial performance to operational and market factors, supporting strategic decisions on margins, pricing, and volumes, and engaging senior stakeholders with clear, action-focused insights and executive-ready performance narratives.

Analytics & Business Insight - Develops financial models and data-driven insights to support profitability, capital efficiency, and informed decision-making across planning and operational cycles. 

Change management advocate - Thrives in dynamic environments, identifies inefficiencies, and drives process improvements, automation, and a performance-focused culture, while mentoring team members to enhance agility, clarity, and decision-making effectiveness.

 

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate you will hold a:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized and approved program (MBA or professional certification such as CFA, CMA, CPA preferred).
  • 12+ years of relevant experience, preferably within Downstream oil & gas or market-driven industries.
  • A background in Trading or market-facing roles is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Strong commercial understanding of Downstream business drivers and value chains.
  • Proven experience in finance and  performance management, business planning, and executive-level reporting.
