Overview
We are seeking a Linear Programming (LP) Modeling Engineer to work in the Supply Planning and Optimization Division.
The Supply Planning and Optimization Division is responsible for performing optimization analyses, developing long terms business plans, performing reviews and evaluations on projects, developing hydrocarbon operations and systems strategies. The division is also responsible for performing supply and demand balances for all crude oil, gas, NGL and refined products managed by the company.
Your primary role is to be consultant on complex engineering and LP problems; reviews existing LP model structure and recommends improvement as required. Mentors’ new LP engineers and provides structured training for them. Provides specialized technical service in recognized engineering fields.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Run the oil & gas and refinery linear programing models to generate the Business Plan level of operations for the Hydrocarbon system.
- Work with all concerned organizations to determine the optimum mode of operation for the facilities.
- Define data and work processes required to maintain and update LP Models.
- Maintain the hydrocarbon LP models by adding or deleting process units and updating yields & streams properties.
- Add new flexibilities to ensure full optimization of the hydrocarbon systems.
- Work with operation and simulation engineers to ensure that the model contains the latest up-to-date process data.
- Perform “back-casting” and issue a monthly report on the LP gap along with required mitigations.
- Perform special economic studies using the LP model.
- Work with different operations divisions to ensure that short range operating plans are aligned with the long term plans in terms of modeling accuracy.
- Ensure that the business plans’ LP Models contains latest information and simulations required to develop each plan.
- Adapt new best practices in LP modeling.
- Mentor new LP engineers and provides structure training as required.
- Review actual operations facilities bottlenecks and recommends mitigations measures.
Minimum Requirements
As a successful candidate, you must hold a bachelor degree in chemical engineering.
- You will have 7 years of experience in Oil and Gas industry or similar process industries. You must have clear understanding and knowledge in Crude, Gas, NGL and Refinery process units’ basic functions.
- You must have a thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles & calculations methods. You must have basic knowledge about AspenTech-PIMS software versions (PIMS, MPIMS, XPIMS, AUP) functionality and uses.
