Position Description

We are seeking a Metallurgical Engineer to join The Material Engineering Unit under Material Consulting Services Department.

 

The Materials Engineering Unit is responsible in providing technical support to plant operations, new projects activities, standardization, purchasing, manufacturers, and maintaining company standards up to date on issues related to metallurgical and welding.

 

As a Metallurgical Engineer your primary role is to provide operational support to upstream and downstream facilities including oil/gas wells, pipelines, gas plants, refineries, terminals and capital programs

Duties and Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Provide consultation to field operations and projects of Saudi Aramco upstream facilities, pipelines, refineries, gas plants and terminals
  • Resolve materials technical problems for operating facilities and SA projects.
  • Participate in incident investigation studies
  • Conduct metallurgical failure analyses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide material selection recommendations based on standards and technical information.
  • Evaluate materials technologies for applicability on Saudi Aramco facilities
  • Perform materials testing, evaluation & selection
  • Review of project design packages for material selection
  • Support other SA standard committees to resolve materials related issues.
  • Teach TSPA courses in materials Selection and failure Analysis

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate you will have:

  • Bachelor degree in Metallurgy amd Materials Engineering. Advance degree is highly desirable
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in materials engineering, fabrication, materials selection and failure analysis.
  • ability to work in multidisciplinary, multicultural groups and be able to pursue work independently
  • Experience in mentoring local staff and providing training/teaching programs
  • Have a general engineering consultancy experience and capability focusing on failure analysis, materials selection, equipment & piping fabrication, providing support to Saudi Aramco operations, capital programs and occasionally to Joint Venture operations.
  • Knowledge of refinery processes and gas plant operations
