Title: Petrophysicist
Aramco energizes the world economy.
Aramco occupies a special position in the global energy industry. We are one of the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbon energy and chemicals, with among the lowest Upstream carbon intensities of any major producer.
With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco’s value to society.
Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations’ spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom’s vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.
We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.
Overviwe
We are seeking a Petrophysicist with expertise in reservoir characterization to join the Eastern Unconventional Characterization Division (EUCD) within the UR Exploration & Characterization Department.
EUCD is responsible for exploring unconventional targets in the kingdom, including shale targets, tight clastic, and tight carbonate formations, as well as characterizing existing unconventional resources to validate their viability and de-risk their development program. Additionally, the department provides support to other entities within UR organization to address any subsurface challenges that may arise during various operational stages, ultimately facilitating informed decision-making and optimized resource development.
Your primary role is to integrate petrophysical data from various sources, including well logs, cores, and laboratory measurements, to perform detailed reservoir evaluations, create accurate petrophysical models, and predict reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Leading and building petrophysical models from multidisciplinary data/observations to establish accurate reservoir properties and predict hydrocarbon volumes.
- Conducting detailed petrophysical studies integrating all available data to optimize well placement, completion, and production designs to maximize hydrocarbon recovery.
- Use/maintain petrophysical models to conduct and document reservoir characterization work-flows via generating cross sections from well logs, maps, cores, cross plots, histograms, summary tables, and written reports for different stratigraphic intervals to recommend optimal well placement strategies.
- Evaluate current practices and identify opportunities for innovative improvements using data science applications to predict reservoir quality and optimize hydrocarbon recovery.
- Demonstrate the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously by actively participating in the well planning process to optimize well placement using a variety of petrophysical data. Monitoring and tracking wells, during and post-completion operations.
- Effectively communicate through presentations to technical peers and management teams to enhance in-house knowledge.
- Provide support, recommendations, and advice in the area of expertise.
- Mentor and develop young professionals on applying petrophysical principles to support drilling, completion, and production.
- Remain up-to-date with latest industry trends, best practices, and technologies in petrophysics.
Minimum Requirements
As the successful candidate you will have: the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in geosciences, geophysics, or a related engineering discipline. An advanced degree is preferred
- You will Have 10 years or more of experience in petrophysical industrial and active technical roles, with at least 5 years in reservoir characterization.
- Experience in building, maintaining, and evaluating large and complex petrophysical models utilizing industry software e.g. Techlog, Petrel, Geolog, and other relevant software.
- Working knowledge in the integration of well logs, cores, and laboratory measurements to predict reservoir properties and optimize hydrocarbon recovery.
- Demonstrate the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team in an operational environment that requires interactive and proactive approaches to predicting and solving petrophysical related issues which impact reservoir characterization, well placement, and hydrocarbon production.
- Peer-reviewed published work in the subject matter will be an added value.
