Position Description
We are seeking a Piping Specialist to join the Piping & Valve Group under Equipment Consulting Services Department (ECSD).
ECSD provides Saudi Aramco and Joint Ventures with effective specialized engineering consultations and introduces viable technologies and maintains quality standards.
As a Piping Specialist your primary role is to provide operation and project support, technical consultations and maintains standards on issues related to piping and pipelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Preform project review to evaluate standard compliance, design basis of Piping and Pipelines.
- Support Operation related piping, and assessment of operation.
- Conduct Fitness for services analysis of piping and piping components
- Support in Standard Management for SAES, SAEP, SABP and 04-SAMSSs related to Piping and Pipelines
- Determine the design pressure, design temperature, the material (allowable stress), and the diameter of the pipe.
- Review and determine the maximum span of piping layout and the rating of different piping components (flange, fittings)
- Perform review on free span and on-bottom analysis using the criteria used when analyzing Submarine Free Spans
- Act as a technical advisor and provide timely operational support to Saudi Aramco’s organizations
- Lead Technology evaluation of latest development in Piping systems.
- Conduct and review Stress analysis and other special studies.
- Review of Pipeline Integrity programs
- Perform Plant assessment and witnessing of local manufacturing activities such as design, fabrication, assembly & testing of piping components.
- Develop ideas for major technical studies or projects to be carried out by less senior engineers.
Minimum requirements
As the successful candidate you will have:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in Oil and Gas
- Experienced with initiating & review of BOM, PMS, ISS and SIS, PID and ISO.
- Experienced with Piping Technical Specification, Hydrotest diagram, Hottapping calculations, & approval, technical bid evaluations, deviations assessment, code compliance.
- Aware to the different types of piping materials, selection philosophy, and types of connections,
- Familiar with design codes related to piping and valves (ASME, ASTM, API, MSS-SP, AWWA, Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards etc.), allowable stresses required for the design case
- Competent to read and review hydrotest diagrams, procedure and review of required code test values
- Familiar with engineering design software such as Stress Analysis and FEA
- Experienced with project phases, and review cycles of piping and valves, wall thickness calcs
- Familiar with different types of materials properties & types of inspections (NDEs), including nonmetallic and elastomers
