Overview


Research and Development Center conducts strategic research, development and demonstration programs in support of Saudi Aramco’s drive for innovation.  We are currently pursuing several technology development opportunities in strategic and downstream research and development areas.
We wish to appoint a high caliber individual to our carbon management and sustainability programs.  This newly created position will have overall responsibility in advancing CO2 capture technologies research.  Specifically key responsibilities are:
Develop and lead new research projects geared towards new materials discovery for CO2 capture.
Develop sorbent setups and engage in laboratory activities related to sorbent development, testing and characterization.
Liaise with peers in the company to develop materials and designs related to CO2 capture.
Train young Saudi engineers, while keeping abreast with the engineering and scientific developments of CO2 capture material and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct literature review and assessment of CO2 capture processes and materials.
Develop research proposals and lead research projects geared towards new materials discovery for CO2 capture.
Set-up and conduct bench scale experiments related to CO2 capture sorbents and material characterization.
Liaise with peers in the company and with collaborators to develop materials and designs related to CO2 capture.
Train young Saudi engineers, while keeping abreast with the engineering and scientific developments of CO2 capture material and technologies.
Assist with project management requirements of the Carbon Management Division.

Minimum Requirements

PhD qualified in Chemistry, Materials or Chemical Engineering.
More than 10 years working experience, preferably researching new materials and processes related to CO2 capture in leading organizations.
Conversant with various CO2 capture technologies, for example adsorption, absorption, as well as emerging concepts relevant to CO2 capture from air with a focus on solid sorbent-based systems.
More than 5 years direct experience dealing with CO2 capture material synthesis.
Have a good knowledge of analytical chemistry and other analytical tools used for sorbents and catalyst characterization.
Proficient in IT with excellent computer skills using specialized software.
Strong project management and process documentation experience.
The successful candidate must be motivated, independent and hard-working with a strong research/technical background in areas relevant to CO2 capture material development.
Excellent command of oral and written English with capabilities to write and present technical papers.
Ability to work in diverse and cross-functional teams and flexibility to work in different locations in addition to the ability to work in diverse teams to achieve common objectives with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
