Overview

We are seeking a Downstream Process Engineer with experience in Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) and Sour Water Stripper (SWS) processes to join to join Ras Tanura Engineering Department (RTRED).

 

RTRED provides specialized and timely operations and process engineering support to all process technologies operated on both wholly-owned and affiliate refining and chemical operating facilities, collectively known as Saudi Aramco Global Manufacturing.

 

Your primary role will be to provide process engineering and operations expertise to monitor, optimize, and drive performance improvement programs for refineries’ SRU & SWS, including remote and field technical advisory support, benchmarking, and SRU & SWS technology knowledge management and exchange. You will drive our performance improvement programs which enhance process safety, optimize manufacturing cost, and increase plant reliability.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

Review and monitor the performances of existing SRU & SWS facilities through key performance indicators (KPIs) representing the process plant’s optimum operability, profitability, reliability, and process safety. Issue quarterly SRU & SWS performance benchmarking reports highlighting the KPIs, analysis, and performance improvement recommendations. 
Monitor and support the facilities in implementing the recommendations and closing the gaps identified in the quarterly performance benchmarking reports. 
Conduct benchmarking and best practices exchange workshops internally among Global Manufacturing facilities (wholly-owned and affiliates) having SRU & SWS process technologies. Execution and deliverables of the workshops will be based on Benchmarking & Best Practices Exchange Agreement among Global Manufacturing facilities. 
Issue by-monthly SRU & SWS technical best practices bulletin for sharing within Global Manufacturing facilities. 
Provide on-demand remote and/or field technical advisory support to Global Manufacturing facilities on matters concerning the operation of SRU & SWS which may include but not limited to process troubleshooting, start-up and shutdown activities, capacity test runs, technology pilot testing, and process design. Issue service report for every support activity provided highlighting the facilities need, actions taken, results, and lessons learned. 
In collaboration with Global Manufacturing facilities engineers, propose cost optimization or process improvement initiatives focusing on ‘low-hanging fruits’ with no or minimal capital investment required, through operational adjustment or design modification. 
Conduct internal assessments on SRU & SWS process engineering standards using Saudi Aramco engineering standard references. Highlight any deviations or better standards applied by affiliates for endorsement to facility management or Saudi Aramco Central Engineering. Support the implementation of relevant engineering standards to SRU & SWS across Global Manufacturing upon each facility management’s approval. 
Act as the Admin Area overall coordinator for cascading and driving Global Manufacturing and Corporate programs to the operating facilities for execution and effective monitoring. 
Participate in Business Plan development and coordinate with stakeholders for any capital investments on assigned process units and support techno-economic evaluations. 
Recommend and coordinate proven technology deployments in SRU & SWS process units. Liaise with Global Manufacturing Excellence-Manufacturing Technical Support Division and Engineering Services for any technology assessment and piloting support. 
Participate as subject matter experts on external benchmarking with 3rd party entities, which include but not limited to, Japan Cooperation Council Petroleum (JCCP) and Gulf Downstream Association (GDA). 
Participate in SRU & SWS hazard operability (HAZOP) and safety integrity level (SIL) studies as required by operating facilities. 
Participate in incident investigation activities concerning SRU & SWS process technologies as required by operating facilities. 
Act as overall coordinator on any SRU & SWS data required by Global Manufacturing Affiliate Affairs from Saudi Aramco wholly-owned facilities.

 

Minimum Requirements

You must have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related specialization.  An advanced degree is preferred.

You should have a minimum of 15 years total refinery or gas plants process units experience (process engineering and operations) with at least 10 years’ experience in handling SRUs/TGTU/SWS plants.

Exposure to different SRU/TGTU process licensor technologies is a plus.
