Overview
We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our Fuels Strategy and Capital Planning Department.
The Fuels Strategy and Capital Planning Department is responsible for evaluating capital investment proposals, reviewing business plans, and ensuring that downstream fuels projects align with corporate strategy. The department provides economic, strategic, and planning support to guide management in making informed investment decisions.
Your primary role is to review fuels capital submittals, validate underlying assumptions, and assess the economics, feasibility and technicality of proposed initiatives. You will ensure that capital proposals meet strategic objectives, supported by sound business logic, and reflect accurate financial and operational expectations. Also, you will evaluate, assess, and optimize process-related inputs that support strategic planning and business plan development.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Provide thorough reviews of capital project submittals to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Assess process-related assumptions within capital projects to ensure technical, operational, and economic soundness.
- Perform feasibility assessments that consider market conditions, business plan outlooks, and long-term fuels strategy.
- Assess the technical feasibility of proposed initiatives and ensure alignment with long-term strategic objectives.
- Provide structured recommendations on project justification, value creation, and alignment with enterprise strategy.
- Perform reviews of business plans and investment plan submissions to ensure consistency with downstream planning.
- Perform detailed reviews of strategic studies and provide engineering insights that strengthen investment decisions.
Minimum Requirements
- You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree is preferred.
- You will have 10 years’ experience in process engineering, economic evaluation, capital project reviews, and planning activities within the downstream sector.
- You will have strong capability in process evaluation, technical analysis, and understanding of refinery and fuels systems.
- You will have strong capability in evaluating economics models, feasibility analyses, and long-term business assumptions.
- You will be able to demonstrate experience supporting business plan development and strategy reviews.
- Experience with downstream process optimization is also necessary.
- Experience with investment screening and sensitivity assessments is preferred.
- You will also have strong analytical and communication skills to support strategic decision making.
- You will have the ability to integrate technical, operational, and economic considerations into strategic recommendations.
