Overview

We are seeking a Reservoir Simulation Developer to join Strategic Modeling Technology (SMT) Division.

 

SMT is responsible for developing the next generation parallel reservoir and basin simulator for Saudi Aramco, which aims to handle gigantic hydrocarbon reservoirs with sufficient spatial resolution.

 

Your primary role is to develop, extend, enhance and maintain reservoir simulator code. 

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance code for portions of the company’s in-house reservoir simulator.
  • Conduct applied research in the fields of high-performance computing, numerical methods of partial differential equations (PDEs), and hydrocarbon reservoir modeling.
  • Initiate, and conduct theoretical and practical research in the development of reservoir simulator codes individually and/or along with a team utilizing the latest in scientific programming languages. 
  • Develop and maintain code for Black Oil and/or Compositional reservoir simulators.
  • Generate new ideas and projects, and contribute substantially to existing efforts.
  • Train and provide technical support for reservoir engineers using simulator.
  • Provide expert training and teach technical in-house courses and workshops/forums
  • Participate in national and international professional societies.
  • Communicate and steer practical research in various international R&D organizations.
  • Prepare technical papers for professional societies local and/or international technical meetings, conferences, forums and workshops.

Minimum Requirements

  • As a successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline from an accredited university. Advanced degree in Engineering, Science is a plus.
  • You will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in parallel programming and scientific computing. Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil industry is a plus.
  • You will have knowledge of using one of the following languages: C++, C or FORTRAN.
  • You will also have a strong background in numerical methods for partial differential equations.
  • Experience with different industries such as Aerospace, Civil, Chemical, Mechanical or Scientific Laboratories will also be considered.
