Overview

We are seeking an attorney with structured projects and commodity trading experience (particularly with respect to long-term supply contracts and offtake agreements) to join Saudi Aramco’s Law Organization in its headquarters in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Provide commercially oriented legal advice to Saudi Aramco and its subsidiaries, particularly in the area of commercial agreements linked to equity or non-equity investments, including long-term crude and product sales/placements, crude importation, long-term refined product/chemical offtakes, processing/netting agreements, tolling arrangements and international hydrocarbon trading. 
  • Provide a broad range of general corporate support including all related commercial transactions, governance, litigation, compliance, risk management, environmental, human resources, and technology.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Law Management; provides continuing assistance, guidance and instructions to other counsels.
  • Supervises the monitoring & advises affected clients on complex regulatory environment of relevance to the Company and prepares updates & briefings to Law Management.
  • Prepares and issues opinions and advice to Management with respect to complex corporate rights and obligations, contracts and agreements.
     

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate you will have:

  • Juris Doctor in Law or Master of Law with additional experience.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience.
  • Currently licensed, admitted to practice, and in good standing in the United States, Canada, England & Wales, the European Union, or an equivalent jurisdiction.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience with a sophisticated law firm or corporation. A mix of private practice and in-house experience would be preferred.
  • Strong structured projects experience is required, particularly working for sponsors on the commercial contracts linked to equity / non-equity investments.  
  • Specific experience in one or more of the following areas would be a plus:  commercial contracts (supply/sales and offtakes; tolling arrangements), commercial transactions, governance, litigation, risk management, environmental.  
  • Trading and/or Maritime experience are not required, but considered a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and/or Mandarin would be considered a plus.
