Job Purpose
The primary role is to develop and manage world-class brine resources and subsurface reserves. You will provide specialized engineering services as part of customized reservoir management practices to maximize the extraction of mineral-rich brines from oil-field brines (such as lithium and other critical minerals) and optimize Net Present Value (NPV).
Responsibilities
- Formulate brine reservoir development, data acquisition, and sustainable extraction-and-reinjection strategies.
- Design and implement solutions for brine reservoir performance analysis, flow dynamics, and field development plans focusing on consistent mineral concentration yields.
- Supervise and support comprehensive reservoir modeling and simulation studies to identify optimal well spacing for both extraction and disposal/reinjection wells.
- Monitor operating expenses to operate and maintain wells to produce the highest volumes of mineral-rich brine at the lowest cost.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (geoscience, drilling, production) in planning and conducting reservoir field studies focused on fluid-rock interactions and brine enrichment zones.
- Prepare requirements for well construction and develop designs for extraction and reinjection wells, providing technical assistance to drilling staff.
- Provide economic evaluation to support fast-paced development decisions.
- Train and mentor young engineers and professionals within the department.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Hydrogeology from an accredited university (Advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in reservoir engineering or advanced hydrogeology, including expertise in reservoir simulation, reserves management (preferably brine), and formation
