Overview
We are seeking a Facilities Engineer to join the Upstream Digital & Computing Strategy Department (UD&CSD).
The Upstream Digital & Computing Strategy Department (UD&CSD) is responsible for the Upstream digital technology strategy and architecture functions to accelerate the Upstream digital transformation. This includes identifying Upstream digital demands, devising an integrated digital roadmap, designing technology architecture, and procuring the required hardware and software technologies. UD&CSD serves as a catalyst for improving the overall organization agility and achieving the corporate digital vision of improving operational efficiency & safety, ensuring reliability & sustainability, and achieving the corporate net-zero emissions target
Your primary role will be leading the long‑term facilities planning, capital funding, and execution of large‑scale, high‑density HPC environments, with a primary focus on Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) and advanced thermal systems
Key Responsibilities
As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Serve as a subject-matter expert in Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) systems for HPC.
- Design and review high-density cooling architectures, including liquid distribution units, heat exchangers, and facility integration.
- Drive energy efficiency, sustainability, and reliability improvements.
- Partner with operations teams to ensure long-term reliability, maintainability, and uptime.
- Define standards, procedures, and best practices for HPC facility infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including IT/HPC teams, finance, procurement, and leadership.
- Manage external vendors, consultants, designers, and contractors.
- Review and negotiate technical scopes of work and service agreements.
- Lead end-to-end planning, and design of future UDC data center facility projects.
- Work with execution organization to oversee design reviews, construction activities, commissioning, and handover.
- Manage funding approval processes, cost estimates, and financial justifications.
- Work with execution organization to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required performance standards.
Minimum Requirements
As a successful candidate you will hold a:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of experience in data center facilities engineering, with direct experience supporting High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with high-density cooling solutions, preferably Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC).
- Proven experience in long-term facilities planning, capital funding, and execution.
- Solid understanding of data center power, cooling, and mechanical systems.
- Experience managing large capital projects from concept through commissioning.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
