Overview

We are seeking a Lead Corporate Strategist to join the Corporate Strategy Department.

 

The Corporate Strategy department directly contributes to the Company's strategy development and update process through the application of best-practices in the fields of upstream, downstream, new energies and corporate strategy.

 

Your primary role will be responsible for the strategic assessment of portfolio sectors, evaluating investment opportunities and delivering actionable recommendations to Executive Management.

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following: 

  • Advise Executive Management and senior leadership on strategic priorities and long-term plans for the industrial portfolio businesses.
  • Lead sector-level strategic assessments across industries such as mining, shipbuilding, manufacturing, technology, and other diversified sectors.
  • Develop data-driven strategic recommendations supported by rigorous market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and financial evaluation for the industrial portfolio businesses.
  • Generate and propose diversified growth options, including acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, and organic expansion initiatives for new or existing portfolio sectors.
  • Guide the development and refining of existing portfolio business units’ strategies and execution roadmaps in collaboration with the business unit management team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Evaluate and modify business unit investment proposals to ensure strategic alignment, commercial viability, and adherence to the Company’s investment criteria in collaboration with the business unit SMEs, Finance and New Business Development teams.
  • Facilitate periodic strategy execution reviews, identifying performance gaps, emerging risks, and course-correction opportunities for business units within the portfolio.
  • Prepares high-impact research, special studies, and strategic analyses for the Strategy & Market Analysis organization and various Corporate Committees, as required.
  • Lead special studies and strategic research initiatives for Executive Management and the Company Board on industrial sectors within the portfolio.
  • Acts as a bridge between fundamental market research and disciplined financial execution.

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate, you will hold a:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from an accredited university. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 15+ years’ experience in Industrial/Mining/Energy companies, Management Consulting, Private Equity, or Investment Banking.
  • 5+ years of strategy or transaction advisory, or demonstrated experience in diversified portfolio management and multi-sector investment strategy.
  • Advanced expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis.
  • Extensive experience operating within large, complex corporate environments, with a strong appreciation for matrixed decision-making, and driving collaboration across multiple departments and functions.
  • Strong knowledge of market dynamics, investment trends, regulatory environments, commercialization models, and market entry strategies across multiple industrial sectors.
  • Proven commercial acumen and experience in business development in one or more industrial sector.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear, compelling strategic recommendations.
  • Executive-level communication skills demonstrated ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders, including C-suit with executives.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience coaching and mentoring other cross-function team members.
