Overview

Engineering Services are seeking an Occupational Health Consultant to join the Health Protection Division of Environmental Protection Department. The Health Protection Division is responsible for developing and managing health protection programs to assess the company's performance in resolving health deficiencies within its facilities.

The Occupational Health Consultant’s primary role involves setting occupational health-related standards and guidelines, implementing health surveillance, providing advisory and consulting services to management and company organizations on health-related matters, participating in activities related to the mitigation of occupational health risks, and ensuring the quality of third-party service providers.

Key Responsibilities

Implement and oversee health surveillance related processes

Evaluate the job fitness and compatibility with the jobs demands; periodic physicals for management of preventable occupational conditions, and medical retirement assessments

Provide occupational health consultations, when requested, on the design of new company projects and processes to minimize health hazards.

Contribute to existing and new occupational health programs and initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and partners to eliminate or mitigate occupational health risks.

Oversee and assess third-party medical providers for quality assurance of occupational health assessments

Develop, rollout and implement the Contractor Fitness to work standards with continuous tracking for compliance and quality assurance with reporting

Support Contractor Medical Emergency Response Planning standardization and monitoring to optimize the response to medical emergency incidents

Organize a framework and implement of Pre-employment/Periodic medical evaluations to proactively identify unfit contractors

Develop Cardiac risk factor screening program to identify and manage high-risk contractor cases

Undertake, if necessary, periodic field surveys to detect and evaluate any occupational health risks.

When requested, engage with, and providing necessary subject matter expert inputs to external consultants.

Use and develop skills for occupational health related technology, automation and digitalization

Serve as the corporate consultant with regards to recent technical advances in prevention of occupationally related diseases.

Support Persons with Disabilities at work in collaboration with relevant organizations.

Initiate and review studies and research in the area of occupational health/medicine, as required.

Participate in innovation, patent filing, publications, knowledge sharing and continuous professional development activities

Participate in occupational illness investigation, determination and classification.

Analyze and interpret statistical data for the evaluation of occupational health programs.

Collect data on occupational illnesses and analysis for reporting purposes

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health/Medicine from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree is preferred.

The Candidate shall have 15+ years of experience, with at least five years of full-time practice in occupational health/medicine.

Fluent in English with the ability to write scientific reports, preferably established by published articles in international and peer-reviewed journals.

Required to have a general knowledge of oil industry processes, workmen's compensation, computerized registries, and information systems.
