Overview

We are seeking a Senior Strategy & Market Consultant for the Energy & Economic Insights department, within the Strategy & Market Analysis (SMA) organization.

 

The Energy & Economic Insights department serves as the organization’s foremost expert in providing specialized strategy and market analysis for the business. 

 

The Senior Strategy & Market Consultant will provide the highest level of professional assistance, counsel, guidance, and training related to oversees department analysis / strategy products and provides analysis of short-term and long-term highly complex issues and problems that facilitates senior management and governmental decision making.

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Develop and use energy supply and demand models and other statistical tools to perform studies and research work.
  • Represent SMA by delivering training seminars, and speaking at conferences.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPI’s) and metrics to measure and track performance,
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting to provide data-driven insights, laisse with the SMA planning group and Energy & Economic Analysis to develop Business Plans, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration and alignment on planning initiatives tracking.
  • Analyze key engagement metrics, such as employee satisfaction, turnover, and participation in organizational initiatives.
  • Coordinate with all E&EI departments to identify operational challenges, technology solution and game changing technologies that can result into value creation, improve efficiency and generate revenue.
  • Facilitate communication within the department and with external stakeholders, including drafting and distributing emails, memos, and reports on behalf of the VP.
  • Provide research and analysis support in developing business plans. Assist in gathering market data, conducting industry research, and compiling information needed for the business plan. They can also help with formatting, editing, and preparing the final document.
  • Help in establishing and maintaining a performance tracking process. This may involve developing tracking templates, setting up systems to collect and analyze performance data, and generating reports on a regular basis.
  •  Assist in monitoring progress, identifying trends, and highlighting areas for improvement.

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate you will have:

  • Bachelor degree in Business and Management or Engineering. An advanced degree in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or closely related specialty is highly desirable. 
  • Minimum 15 years professional experience gained in a combination of commercial and strategic.
  • Significant experience in oil & gas, preferably in relevant departments of a major oil & gas company and supplemented by consulting experience in the energy practice of a major international consulting firm. 
  • Solid experience with statistical and financial analysis in an oil & gas and wider energy - industry context. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of petroleum economics, technology and accounting. 
  • Must be able to understand, interpret and communicate the rationale for corporate reporting requirements as related to business plans, manpower budgets, and capital and operating budgets to all levels of management
  • Previously presented to Corporate Management and Board level, as well as across organizational levels and at external fora such as conferences, and must therefore be able to quickly build the trust and respect of Executive Committee members, senior management and peers.
  • Prior experience working in an international setting, with a sound appreciation of working with multinational teams
